The Reykjavik City Library has branches in many districts of the city: the main library is by the Old Harbour, on Tryggvagata. The National and University Library is located adjacent to the University of Iceland, on Arngrimsgata.
All Icelandic libraries now have a common database, Gegnir, where you can search for the book you need.
Anyone can read and use other facilities at the libraries, but library cards are issued only to residents. Libraries offer use of computers and Internet access for a small fee.
