Hvitserkur (Hvítserkur) rock
It is often said that this much photographed 15 m high rock stack is what puts Vatnsnes on the map. The offshore rock, which resembles a prehistoric animal, cannot be seen from the road: it is sited between the farms Os and Suluvellir.
Look for the gravel road signposted to Hvitserkur, and follow the short path to a viewing platform. A trail heads down to the beach by the cliff, towards Sigridarstaðaos, where often hundreds of seals can be found basking.
